Organizers of second annual event seek sponsors and prizes for the Sept. 24 race.

The 2nd Annual Race for Grace will be held on Saturday, Sept, 24, 2011. The race supports all of those with Friedreich’s ataxia. All of the proceeds go directly to FARA (Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance).

Last year’s first annual event included a 5K race at Colt State Park and a benefit concert at Gillary’s Tavern, both located in Bristol, RI.  These two events raised $10,000 that went directly to FARA.

This was made possible by entry fees for the race, donations at the door of the benefit along with raffle prizes and silent auction items from local businesses. We are so grateful to those that embrace our cause to support research for a cure or treatment for all those people affected by Friedreich’s ataxia.

This year we hope to have more runners in the race and an even more packed Gillary’s for the benefit concert.  Last year’s entertainers, Colby James and Jon Tyler, packed the house and this year they will also be complimented by T.J. Sweeney.  These three local musicians have an endless amount of talent and play all over RI and many other states and choose to donate their time to this cause.
